# AstoundTube

> AstoundTube is a free, privacy-first browser extension that provides precise playback speed control (0.1x to 4x) for YouTube videos. Available for Firefox, with Chrome support coming soon.

AstoundTube gives users granular control over YouTube video playback speed with keyboard shortcuts, speed memory across videos, and zero data collection. The extension is lightweight (~40KB) and never contacts external servers.

## Core Features

- Speed range: 0.1x to 4x in 0.1 increments
- Keyboard shortcuts: Shift+> (faster), Shift+< (slower), Shift+Space (reset)
- Speed memory: Automatically remembers preferred speed per video
- On-screen overlay: Minimal display showing current speed
- Thumbnail hover controls: Set speed before watching
