Overview

AstoundDrive is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains our data collection, usage, and protection practices for the AstoundDrive browser extension. All ZIP creation and encryption happens entirely within your browser.

Data Collection Statement

AstoundDrive does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

All file downloads, ZIP creation, and AES-256 encryption happen locally in your browser. No file contents ever leave your device.

What Information is Stored Locally

AstoundDrive stores the following preferences locally in your browser using the browser's storage API:

Checksum Preference

Whether SHA-256 checksum verification is enabled

Important: All this information is stored locally on your device only. It never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to any server. Your Google Drive files are processed entirely in-memory and never stored by the extension.

Permissions Explained

AstoundDrive requires the following permissions:

storage Permission

Purpose: To save your preferences (e.g., SHA-256 checksum toggle)

What it does: Stores extension settings locally in your browser

What it does NOT do: Does not transmit any data externally

tabs Permission

Purpose: To detect when you are on Google Drive and show the appropriate popup state

What it does: Checks if the active tab is on drive.google.com

What it does NOT do: Does not read browsing history or track other tabs

downloads Permission

Purpose: To save the generated ZIP file to your computer

What it does: Triggers a "Save As" dialog for the downloaded ZIP file

What it does NOT do: Does not access or modify your existing downloads

cookies Permission

Purpose: To authenticate file download requests using your existing Google session

What it does: Sends your Google session cookies alongside download requests so Google recognizes you as a logged-in user

What it does NOT do: Does not read, store, or transmit your cookies to any third party. Cookies are only sent to Google's own servers.

*://drive.google.com/* Host Permission

Purpose: To inject the "Download ZIP" toolbar button and modal interface into Google Drive pages

What it does: Adds download functionality directly into the Google Drive web interface

What it does NOT do: Does not work on any other websites, does not modify Google Drive data

Third-Party Services

AstoundDrive does NOT:

Use any analytics services
Upload files to external servers
Use tracking pixels or cookies
Share data with third parties
Include ad networks
Collect telemetry data

Data Security

Since AstoundDrive does not collect or transmit any data, there is no data at risk of being intercepted or compromised. All file processing, ZIP creation, and AES-256 encryption happens in-memory within your browser. Settings are stored locally using the browser's secure storage API.

Children's Privacy

AstoundDrive does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13.

Your Rights

Since we don't collect any personal data, there is no personal data to access, rectify, erase, port, or object to processing of.

Your local settings can be cleared at any time by:

Transparency

AstoundDrive is built with privacy as a core principle. The extension operates entirely locally on your device. File downloads go directly from Google's servers to your browser, where they are encrypted and packaged into a ZIP — all in-memory, with no intermediate storage or external connections.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this document. Continued use of AstoundDrive after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated privacy policy.
